Is Hypnobirthing for me?
Are you pregnant? Then yes!
My Hypnobirthing course is suitable for every type of birth and every body. Whether you’re having one baby or three, a caesarean section or a home birth you will learn techniques and skills to give you a better birth.
Why should I pay for this course rather than an online one?
Many of the of the cheaper online courses are on-demand or pre-recorded. This essentially means you’re just watching tele. It’s not very interactive and so your attention is more likely to wander! It also means (I know coz this was me!!) that you’re more likely to skip the bits you’re not so interested in! When paying for a full interactive course, you’re getting a real person teaching you, keeping you engaged. You can ask questions, you get better follow up support and you’re more likely to make friends too!
What’s the difference between NCT & Hypnobirthing.
NCT is a parenting course, it focusses more on teaching you practical parenting skills such as changing nappies etc, with just a section of the course focussing on birth. Hypnobirthing is all about the birth, we cover a little pregnancy related stuff and I set you up to have a positive fourth trimester but you’ll be learning lots of really interesting, useful new stuff about your body, your hormones as well as skills that you can take with you through the rest of your parenting journey, not just how to care for a newborn.
When should I do a Hypnobirthing course?
You should try and aim to do a course around 30 weeks, this way you’re close enough to the end of your pregnancy that you won’t forget everything but it’s not too late that there’s a chance baby arrives before you finish the course!! However it’s never too early or late to start, any birth prep is better than none!
Should my partner come to the classes?
Yes birth partners are strongly encouraged to come along so that they can find out about how important their role is. If you can't convince them, try and get them to come along to one of my tasters. Don't worry if thy aren't around, it just means you'll have to take extra notes!
How long is the course?
The course is around 12 hours long.
Sessions will either be split in to 4x three hour sessions (usually an evening) or 2x six hour sessions (usually on a weekend).
Sessions are usually decided by the first person who contacts me!
What do I get with the course?
As if a fully interactive comprehensive antenatal education isn't enough, you’ll receive a goody bag, containing your Wild Embers x The Birth Uprising workbook, a pack of Wild Embers Affirmation Cards and a selection of freebies for you and baby.
The goody bag includes some treats for you, your baby and some handy items for your birth bag.
I can’t make the dates you’ve got advertised, what are my options?
Please get in touch with me, I may be able to rearrange dates slightly to suit you or to bring another course forwards. Alternatively, you’re welcome to book a 1:1 private course or a Hypnobirthing Essentials course.
Can I use Hypnobirthing with a different birth?
The skills you learn in Hypnobirthing can be used for every type of birth, even if you choose an elective caesarean section!
They are also skills you can transfer in to the fourth trimester and onwards throughout your parenting journey
Do I have to do it in a group?
Nope, if you’re more of a private person I’d be more than happy to offer you a private course. These can be done either online or at my home or yours.
Pregnancy Yoga Q's
When can I start?
I recommend starting Pregnancy Yoga at around 14 weeks, this is to ensure you’ve had your dating scan and you’re over the worst of the first trimester! As long as you’ve had your scan and you’re feeling ok you’re welcome to start before 14 weeks.
I encourage you to carry on coming along up until baby's here and offer PAYG if you've been before and you're starting a new block of classes after 35 weeks
My pregnancy's a bit complicated, can I still join?
As long as you’re pregnant you can come along! Yoga is so magical it can help energise you if you’re feeling tired, it can help relax you if you’re feeling anxious and it definitely helps all those aches and pains associated with pregnancy. I ask everyone to complete a health questionnaire before starting so that I can keep an extra special eye on you if you do have any risk factors.
Can I still come if I haven't done yoga before?
Absolutely. My first ever experience of yoga was a pregnancy yoga class when I was pregnant with my first born. You don’t have to be flexible or have any idea what you’re doing!
What do I need to bring?
I will provide mats and blocks, I always encourage you to bring a pillow and blanket so that you can get nice and cosy for the snuggly relaxation at the end of class, other than that you just need to bring a drink and a sense of humour!
Do you offer tasters?
I offer free online tasters if I am running online classes at the time.
You are welcome to come along and try a class for £10 without committing to a block - just drop m a message so I know you're coming!
Do you offer 1:1 classes?
Yes, I love teaching 1:1 pregnancy yoga. It’s £35 for a 1 hour 15 min session and I offer discount on block booking. Please get in touch if this is something you’re interested in.
Why do I have to book 6 classes?
Each class has a different theme, so you get a good variety of content. With every new block I change the content of the class so if you’d like to book a second or third block you won’t be doing the same classes.
The classes usually follow this format:
Yoga basics, a sun salutation
A class targeting pregnancy aches/pains/complaints (e.g pelvic girdle pain, restless legs etc)
Birth ball/birth prep
A birth rehearsal
Something fun or super relaxing!
By committing to a block you’ll be a bit more inclined to come along when you otherwise can’t be arsed too
Postnatal & Baby Yoga Q's
When can I start?
You can come along to postnatal & baby yoga as soon as you feel ready. If you've had a c-section, episiotomy or third or forth degree tear or any post-natal complications please seek advice from your health care provider before starting postnatal exercise
What if my baby cries or sleeps during the class?
Post natal classes are totally baby led and I encourage you to follow your babies cues. If baby needs feeding, changing, winding or cuddling please feel free to do this as and when you need to. If baby sleeps it means you get to enjoy a little me time!
What do I need to bring?
I will provide mats and cushions for your comfort, please just bring your baby, a drink and a blanket.
I try and keep the space as free as possible so ask you to only bring in what you really need for each class. You’ll receive more personalised information on pushchairs etc on your confirmation email
