Wild Embers

“We are the descendants
of the wild women you forgot
We are the stories you thought
would never be taught.

They should have checked the ashes
of the women they burned alive.
Because it takes a single wild ember
to bring a whole wildfire to life.”

― Nikita Gill

WHY WILD EMBERS?

The poem that inspired the name Wild Embers has always resonated deeply with me.

Not because I believe birth should look the same as it did hundreds of years ago, but because I believe there is something powerful that many of us have lost along the way: trust.

Trust in our bodies.

Trust in our babies.

Trust in our ability to make informed decisions about our own care.

Pregnancy and birth are both deeply human experiences. They are physiological, emotional, transformative and, for many people, life-changing. Yet somewhere along the way, many of us have been taught to approach them with fear before confidence.

Wild Embers exists to help parents reconnect with that confidence. To help you understand your body, trust your instincts and feel prepared for the journey ahead.

WHAT I BELIEVE

I believe parents deserve evidence-based information that helps them understand their options.

I believe maternity care works best when it's collaborative, not directive.

I believe every family deserves to feel heard, respected and involved in decisions about their body, their baby and their birth.

This isn't about rejecting modern maternity care. It's about understanding it. Asking questions. Exploring your options. Recognising that guidelines are exactly that — guidelines — and that every pregnancy, every baby and every family is unique.

I've experienced three very different pregnancies and births myself, and they've taught me that there is rarely one "right" way to do things. What matters most is that you feel informed, supported and confident in the choices you make.

That's why you'll often hear me talk about:

Confidence over fear.

Connection over compliance.

Oxytocin over obedience.

WHAT I HOPE FOR YOU

The families I work with aren't striving for a perfect pregnancy or a perfect birth.

They're building confidence.

They're learning practical skills.

They're understanding how their bodies work.

They're finding their village.

They're preparing to navigate pregnancy, birth and early parenthood feeling calm, capable and supported.

Because confidence doesn't come from being told what to do.

It comes from understanding your options, trusting yourself and knowing that whatever path your journey takes, you have the tools and support to navigate it.

For me, Wild Embers is about reigniting that spark that already exists within every parent.

A reminder that your body is capable.

That your instincts matter.

That your voice matters.

And that even the smallest ember can grow into something powerful.

Whether you join me for pregnancy yoga, birth preparation, postnatal support or simply a cup of tea and a chat at Glow & Gather, my hope is that you leave feeling a little more informed, a little more connected and a lot more confident in yourself.
